Inspired by my experience moving frequently and traveling in my youth, this personal essay explores how individuals move through “thin places”— spaces where humans can become closer to God in Celtic traditions.
By capturing places that are near and dear to these individuals, the narrator investigates both traditional and contemporary interpretations of the concept. I come to argue that people also constitute a thin space; their spirits enlighten us and show us another type of love that we cannot hold for tangible spaces.
This piece combines handheld footage with performative collage to capture a handmade aesthetic. The original score that plays throughout is based on the audio frequency of the sun, connecting thematically to nature.
